So I can definitely see why Japanese people will hop over to Korea for a weekend to do some shopping. 1) the food's good; 2) there are duty free stores abound and 3) right now the exchange rate favors the yen. Finally sort of feeling settled in. Got paid on Friday! Of course the urge was to spend it all, but I kept myself in check...for the most part anyway. There's some spending that I have to do for the apartment; my fan broke on Friday and I don't have a microwave. Long overdue. Arrived in Kyoto from Tokyo via shinkansen last week. From there it was go go go. No time to get over jetlag. My supervisor had us out getting phones the first day and for the remainder of the week out buying things for the apt. I got my JET placement yesterday! I'll be living in Kyotanabe City in the Kansai region. It's not what I requested (Kanto region), but is definitely a good area. It'll give me the chance to hit the cities I missed the last time I was in Japan (Osaka, Kobe and Nara). Having 3 big cities around also means I'll definitely get to go to some ( Read more... )
