The original plan for this session was to investigate a missing high priest and possible ally.  Instead we learn about a black dragon flying over the city.  So we go to check on that instead.  Yep, big ol' black dragon.  With a rider who we identify as the leader of the Grey Maiden guards and a confidante of the queen.

Well, it took the entire 5+ hours of gaming, but our party managed to take down the shadowumbral dragon. Partly from Bill's cleric T.T. using up most of his Harrow points to get his spells past the beast's spell resistance consistently. And his dog mount's ability to smite evil. Finished up the bookkeeping from last session's rest period and we started back across the bridge to the castle again.  And about halfway got jumped by a trio of oversized mutant gargoyles.  Though thanks to a quick blade barrier from one of the NPC clerics, they weren't able to mob us and so weren't as bad a threat as they could have been.  But ( Read more... )

All the Weyrs of Pern and The Dolphins of Pern on the 3rd. And The Skies of Pern on the 5th. A movie full of coming-of-age cliches; Be True to Yourself, the Outsider Becomes the New Normal, Misfit Army and more. But the beautiful animation, the amusing dialogue and of course the adorableness and emotive nature of the lead dragon make it an excellent film. What should be a thread-bare mosiac manages to be a highly enjoyable tapestry...
