After a bit of anxious urging from Tracey, the group finally set out to Professor Oak’s laboratory. Tracey got to meet his idol and Ash handed over the GS Ball; the reason they’d set out to the Orange Islands in the first place. Sadly, Professor Oak was unable to uncover the mysteries of said ball and asked Ash to take it to Johto ( ... )

Next up was the episode Oaknapped!, where Ritchie stopped by Professor Oak’s lab in hopes of getting some advice on Eevee evolution. The Professor had gone to the TV station on the Seafoam Islands for a special live show, but when Tracey called them up, it turned out that he’d vanished from the station without a trace. Together with Ritchie, he travelled to the TV station and tried to unravel this mystery. As it turned out, Professor Oak had been kidnapped by Biff- I mean Butch and Cassidy. With use of some clever detective skills and tracking (ironically, Marill and Venonat were not used for this), Professor Oak was saved and all was well. In the episode A Date With Delcatty, Tracey visited Cerulean City once more and was forced to do some chores around the gym while Misty and Casey (another kid from Johto) tried to solve the mystery of a love letter. Next up we have the episode Journey To The Starting Line, where the son of Pallet Town’s mayor, Gilbert, was about to set off on his Pokemon journey. However, the three starter Pokemon ( ... )

Personality:
The first impression someone might get from Tracey is that he’s a kind, polite boy with a passion for Pokemon. That impression would be correct for the most part. He only loses his temper on rare occasions and treats people with respect. As long as they haven’t done anything to deserve otherwise, that is. Tracey minds his manners, is very modest and respects personal boundaries. He’s quick to apologize for his mistakes and gives off a calm vibe. One may say that character-wise, Tracey’s rather like a chameleon; he can blend seamlessly into the background. At times, he’s ‘that guy who’s just there’, as he doesn’t seem to want to draw attention to himself ( ... )

Tracey seems to be kind to a fault. After the Orange Island series ends and he settles down with Professor Oak, he is nearly always working. Scrubbing the floors, dusting old archives, feeding Pokemon… Or even helping out at Cerulean City Gym. He seems content to do work for others. Though he does realize that he’s being abused whenever Daisy cons him into doing chores again, he doesn’t vocally object to it. He merely wonders if it pays to be the nice guy and continues his work. What a wussy. The only times Tracey seems to get mad is when someone insults Pokemon or Pokemon authority. He gets angry at Ash for not showing Prima/Lorelai enough respect, threatens to report infamous Magikarp salesman to Officer Jenny, and lectures a bratty new Trainer about starter Pokemon and how to raise them ( ... )

Emotional: First and foremost, Tracey is very kind and always willing to lend a hand. Unlike Ash, who’s as blunt as a rock, he actually knows a thing or two about being discreet. He still makes a few thoughtless remarks from time to time (“When it comes to bugs, Misty’s a chicken!”), but never means any harm by them. He treats his elders with due respect and understands personal boundaries. After catching Scyther, he asks Professor Oak for advice and realizes just what it takes to boost the Pokemon’s confidence again. He takes a step back and trusts Scyther to settle things for himself, rather than forcing his skills as a Trainer upon his latest capture.

Weaknesses:
Pokemon: While Scyther is his main attacker, the poor thing is very old and seems to behave in an almost sickly manner. It gets exhausted after only a few attacks. Venonat is hardly a fighter either. If its powder attacks fail, hardly any options are left for it. Marill may have an excellent Water Gun attack, but its power is mediocre in the overall. Tracey didn’t put ( ... )

Third Person:
Tracey was confused. No, he was beyond confused. He was on the verge of having a mild panic attack. There he’d been, setting out to feed the Professor’s Rapidash, only to suddenly awaken in an unfamiliar forest. Half-naked. Whatever happened in-between these two events didn’t seem to be present in his memories. Someone must’ve knocked him out cold and moved him. … And undressed him.

But who? And more importantly, why?

His first thought was Team Rocket, but… This didn’t seem like the kind of stunt Team Rocket would pull. If it were, it would’ve involved a freshly-dug hole, an eccentric recitation of the motto and many bad puns. This wasn’t their style. Whoever it was, they must’ve had quite a grudge, either against Professor Oak or himself. To leave him in the middle of nowhere just like that, without any of his belongings and only one pair of pants…

Well, this was just cruelJust as he turned to begin his long trek back to civilization, in whichever direction that may lie, his gaze fell on a book. It was lying nearby ( ... )
