My hair HATES shampoo on my scalp so I went around looking for alternate methods of washing my hair and I'd found a method that my hair really likes. Back here I wrote about an experiment making a gel out of soap flakes for washing hair, as an alternative to detergent shampoos (ie any shampoo).

I have been using the soap gel ever since, except one recent wash, and the results have been very satisfactory. I am only using a handful of moisturiser on the dry ends before each wash, and no conditioner ( Read more... )

After my post on an old fashioned hair washing method, I tried making my own gloop, I mean soap gel, with a degree of success, and I have results with pictures.

1. Starting point: One 50ml scoop of Velvet natural soap flakes in a 200ml bowl (about 1 cup).

I've been trying no-poo for about a month now, and I can solemnly swear that my hair is in awful condition. So I've found a conditioner that I like (DevaCurl's No-Poo...it smells great and no -cones) to go no-poo with, and I was thinking of using Dr Bronner's peppermint castille soap on my hair when I feel like it needs a deeper clean. I've never used the Dr Bronner's on my hair before (I usually use it as body wash) so does anyone have any reviews?

I have fairly fine, straightish hair to my waist or thereabouts,  that I only wash about once a week; always had it drummed into me that letting the natural oils appear in the hair before washing it, was good for it.
