As someone who just looked at a $1300! handcrafted bike made in England last week this article does resonate with me. In the past few months, J and I have finally gotten to the point in our lives where we aren't living paycheck to paycheck, and I can see how over the next year or so we will have established ourselves squarely in the middle class. While both J and I have worked hard, and can relate on some level to those living in American poverty, we've also both been really fortunate that we've always had a strong family safety net to support us. While I think the Occupy Wall Street people could be a bit more strategic and need more than amorphous demands, I support their efforts, and appreciate that their movement has at least started a conversation about the economic inequalities in this country I know that I could never be an Occupier. Don't get me wrong, I'm hardly a self hating impoverished minority who still supports Republicans because I think I'm one of "them", I certainly don't; but I'm also not entirely disenfranchised either.
