Defying Gravity

So...more bad news today. Car's broke on the inside, auto body place won't fix or even acknowledge any culpability. Essentially there's a broken gasket that's causing oil to leak on my timing belt which now has to be replaced as well as issues around (but not) my transmission. Just when I thought I was out of the woods and back on track financially I'm hit with close to $900 in car repair costs. Sucks, but there's nothing more to do than pay it and move on. This accident has really changed our financial playing field quite a bit, and although nothing is working as planned, we're not in a terrible position, just not the great position we had been in last month.
To help cheer me up after a pretty craptastic day, I decided to go ahead and put the Halloween decorations up. Although there are some decorations that will have to wait until pre-party to use, the house is looking pretty festive. I decided to use these two medieval looking pics my mom bought me for The Hobbit House (aka my first apartment) as decoration. Literally the two painting are all black, with with a man and a woman in medieval garb drawn on in what looks like gold chalk. Overall they're just terrible and kind of depressing in how dark they are. When J and I moved in together we made a deal that I wouldn't put those two paintings up, if he wouldn't put up his horrible parrot painting. They are however, the perfect decoration over the fireplace.
Despite car, and financial stuff I'm really looking forward to Halloween. There's a ton of stuff going on, and although I'll be out of town the night of Trauma, I'll make it back in time for the Voltaire show Friday, and J and I will spend most of Saturday getting things ready for our party. Last year all of our Halloween plans got scrapped since I was too sick to do much of anything so I'm hoping to make up for it this year. We've got a few ideas on costuming, but nothing set in stone as of yet. Hopefully we can solidify something this week so we're not waiting until the last minute to decide.
