As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent this past week in the greater Dallas area. Mostly to go to WrestleMania and some other wrestling events, but while I was in the area I figured a visit to the zoo wouldn't do any harm. I stayed in Arlington which is pretty much right smack dab in the middle between Dallas and Fort Worth, and both have zoos

So yesterday I decided to make good use of the lovely weather (sunny, dry, temperatures in the lower to mid 40s) and went on my first zoo visit of the year. The zoo of my choice of course was the zoo closest to where I live: Nuremberg Zoo. Compared with Leipzig, Hamburg and Stuttgart it's on the smaller side but that does not mean that it's not a

So after the Def Leppard gig that I'd gone to, I had a few more days of vacation that I spent at home in Zwickau with my parents, and during that vacation I also did something that I just love doing: I went to Leipzig zoo. Four days after the concert my feet and voice had recovered enough for me to take Boo to Leipzig. As always it was an amazing

And so continues my trilogy of picspam posts: In this one I am reminiscing about Def Leppard's live gig at Porsche Arena in Stuttgart on 25 May - their first tour of Germany in 12 years. Yes, as a Leps fan you certainly learn to be patient, lol! Either way, when a friend of mine told me about the upcoming tour, I checked the dates and bought a

I had promised this to nutmeg3 already a month ago, and I am sorry I'm only coming around to it now. In a minute I'll also post another picspam from my visit to Leipzig zoo in late May, but first, as the header says, it's the Nuremberg zoo

So, yesterday I spent at the zoo in Nuremberg which is best known for its polar bears (little Flocke was born here a few years back) and dolphins. It's quite a big zoo where you can easily spend 6+ hours. A few enclosures are currently closed for rebuilding, amongst them the wolf enclosure (it will be turned into a lynx enclosure) and sadly also

I just noticed that when I posted the photos of Hirschfeld the other day some were missing. For some reason LJ hadn't uploaded them properly. But as they are photos of a tawny owl cleaning itself in my presence and of the pair of great grey owls (the male of which is beige-coloured), I have to share them with you yet. Apologies for the fence

On May 2 I was at Leipzig Zoo, and as always I loved it. It really doesn't matter how often I go there, I am always just in awe at what they've managed to achieve. I still remember the zoo from East Germany times when the enclosures were tiny and in disarray. It's completely different these days. Most animals have huge enclosures that are as close

So, after two years I finally made it back to Hirschfeld Tierpark. It's a small but really beautiful zoo just about 15 mins by car from Zwickau. They have mostly regional animals on display, but also a few more exotic animals such as porcupines, and a few macaques for the kids. But despite its small size it's still an amazing place to go.
