So after the Def Leppard gig that I'd gone to, I had a few more days of vacation that I spent at home in Zwickau with my parents, and during that vacation I also did something that I just love doing: I went to Leipzig zoo. Four days after the concert my feet and voice had recovered enough for me to take Boo to Leipzig. As always it was an amazing day that I had. Since my last visit a year ago a lot of things have changed: The leopard enclosure has been opened, the Kiwara Kopje (an enclosure that is shared by rhinos, cheetahs and patas monkeys) has been finished (although when I visited they were still in the process of getting the animals used to the area separately and no one was out when I passed by), they are putting the finishing touches to the new big jungle gym where once the "Bear Castle" was, and they're beginning to build the next section of the zoo called "Himalaya" where the red pandas, sloth bears and some other animals that come from that region will find their new home. What was exciting was that I got to see the ocelot as well as the fishing cat this time - on the other hand unfortunately both the Amur leopards and Matadi, one of the most beautiful lions in the whole world, remained hidden. Another highlight was Voi Nam, the elephant bull that had been born in Leipzig some 15 years ago and who is now back to mate with the elephant cows and hopefully make many new elephant babies, because since his birth Leipzig zoo has had nothing but bad luck with breeding elephants. They still have one pregnant elephant cow, and hopefully she will not only give birth to a healthy baby next year but also accept it and raise it.

Anyway, it was another awesome day that I had, and I hope it shows in the pictures. So, without further ado:
