First snow of the season!

This was a pretty awesome weekend. Friday, Mom took me shopping - I fit in a size 10 now! I haven't worn size 10 pants since the late 90's! *dance* Also, I got the most awesome parka! (I'm pretty excited, can you tell?)

Sunday, Sam & I went hiking with elasmo, ellatoulouse, xenonhunter and Dan-dan, down at Robert Treman State Park. It's a lovely park, a long (4.5 mile round trip, uphill both ways) hike, and well worth it. I'm discovering the best part of hiking like that is that it combines three of my favorite things - water/the outdoors, friends & good company, and exercise (I don't really ( Read more... )

I'm not known for being able to stick with something regularly, but I'll try to do this one.

Rather than a single list, I'm going to list a thing a day, from now through Thanksgiving, for which I'm thankful.

Today, I'm thankful for the sun warm on my face.

It's nice out today, for all that the January thaw waited to show up until well into February.

We walked down to the coffee store from some coffee, beer, cocoa, and honey - almost too warm for a coat, by the end - and I have a pizza dough rising in the oven.

Good day. Almost feels like a real week-end.

Where does this perception come from that November is winter?

I mean, I know that there have been times in NY where we've had serious snowfall in November, even in October (and, of course, as late as April & May), but a 60 degree day in early November doesn't seem like it should be cause for alarm and consternation (That being said, the average ( Read more... )
