This is the first day of my vacation. I'm home, with no other plans than cleaning up, reading a good book, watching Ancient Aliens and cartoons and doing the basic shopping. I have managed to get a pic of Visitor Cat's kittens. An old lady living in a block near us is taking care of them and their mother. She lets them out in the morning. I find amber fascinating. This fosile resin takes many shapes and colors. The amber from the Carpathians is also called rumanit. It has been used as a precious currency, gorgeous jewelry, magic stone, good luck charm, melted into medicines since ... forever. I didn't think I'd feel any particular attraction to herbivores, until I visited the horses from Sinca, Buzau. They are specialized in English Thoroughbred and they have a couple of gorgeous Gidran refuges from another stable that went bankrupt. The next stop after the mud volcanoes was the area Nucu-Bozioru where there are vestiges of an interesting monastic ensemble dug into the caves of the Buzau Mountains. It was hard work getting there, the climb was uncomfortable for a city dweller, office worker like me. What annoyed me the most was seeing the placid cows in the pastures above me. ( Read more... )

Meli, my tabby cat has just visited a neighbor, one floor up. My mom left the door open somehow and when I noticed she was missing, I could also hear the neighbors talking about 'the cat'.
