A rather rough day.

Last Friday I didn't have to go to work, which was good, since I didn't get home from the New Year's party until 5 AM.  Ordinarily, I'd have done my LOTR marathon then, but I had plans for later that day and I was throwing a wine tasting party Saturday night, so I decided to clean my house instead.  My plans?  Run a few errands, go to shooting ( Read more... )

You might want to check the comment I put on the main thread for Lijuun. It's really hard for guys to think above our belts. As we grow up we get better at it. Sounds like this one has a little way to go.

The thing to remember is that his brain doesn't work like yours does. To some extent it never will.

Ha! Nope, not Verizon. At least, not directly. I hate to name the store, but it's one that sells many different carriers.

Remember in one of the Harry Potter books where Ron asks why they don't get taught how girl's brains work? This was very perceptive of Rowling. See, we just don't know. Well some of us have been married almost forever and have learned how to operate two of the 87 levers on the female mind already.

He may be a dork, but he may just have no idea. That may be bad enough, but remember they really don't teach how girl's minds work in school. As such it may be worth cutting him some slack, though maybe not.

Why does he need to know how girls' minds work to tell me what time to meet? Seriously, I flat-out gave him instructions: "Let me know what time." He responded very clearly, "OK, I will." There was no code, no doublespeak, no hidden intentions. I did not call him up and say, "The small brown dog barks at the tiny fly," and then hang up before he could ask me what the hell I meant ( ... )

I'll leave the above reply there because it is mildly amusing, but I've reconsidered. You're having a serious rant and I am being flippant.

Sorry. You are right.

You know, I think that some people (male and female) are actually okay with this kind of casualness. I never have been, but maybe it is just that this guy has always been this sort of take it or leave it type... but whatevs, if that's not your style (and it fersher isn't mine) then you're right to ignore him. I'd have done the same. OR, I might have just replied once to say why I was ignoring him and left it at that. Because I like closure.

Nah, it definitely doesn't work for me. It just seemed . . . rude. We made a date, and then he carried on as though the conversation never happened. So, either he's a complete dumbshit who can't recall a conversation or he's a rude game-playing bastard. Either way, I'm well shot of him!

Closure for me happens when I make a decision. I don't feel the need to inform the other person of that decision. I think your way is infinitely better and more polite, but I always seem to forget that when I'm in situations like this!
