Last Friday I didn't have to go to work, which was good, since I didn't get home from the New Year's party until 5 AM. Ordinarily, I'd have done my LOTR marathon then, but I had plans for later that day and I was throwing a wine tasting party Saturday night, so I decided to clean my house instead. My plans? Remember in one of the Harry Potter books where Ron asks why they don't get taught how girl's brains work? This was very perceptive of Rowling. See, we just don't know. Well some of us have been married almost forever and have learned how to operate two of the 87 levers on the female mind already.

He may be a dork, but he may just have no idea. That may be bad enough, but remember they really don't teach how girl's minds work in school. As such it may be worth cutting him some slack, though maybe not.

Why does he need to know how girls' minds work to tell me what time to meet? Seriously, I flat-out gave him instructions: "Let me know what time." He responded very clearly, "OK, I will." There was no code, no doublespeak, no hidden intentions. I did not call him up and say, "The small brown dog barks at the tiny fly," and then hang up before he could ask me what the hell I meant ( ... )
