Yesterday afternoon I left work early for wedding errands. We got our Marriage License from the City Clerk's office, where I hopped up and down with excitement. Then we picked up our wedding bands (after paying the rest of the bill). We tried them on, and they're comfy. Plain and comfortable. I'll post a picture.
Last night was my last Learn to Read Hebrew class, and when I got there I told the ladies about the marriage license. One of them looked surprised and asked: "In what state?"
Me: New York.
Her: Really? I thought they wouldn't... mumble... Not since New Paltz...um
Me: Oh, I'm marrying a boy.
Then she felt awkward, and apologized for assuming that I was gay, but I just thought it was funny. I told Giles about it later, and of course he wasn't surprised. He knows that most people who don't know me think I'm either gay or (if they don't look too closely) a twelve year old boy. Did I ever tell you about going to the DMV for my NYS driver's license? They thought I was Giles' son coming in for a learner's permit.
