So the Chicago area got dumped with between six to twelve inches of snow yesterday. I woke up an hour earlier and left the house early to clean snow off my car. 4-wheel drive got me safely out of the driveway and from there I averaged about 20 mph on my way to work. This morning when pulling into work, I saw a bed of red chysanthemums coated in frost. They looked like raspberries dusted with powdered sugar. It was beautiful.

The leaves are turning, leaving the trees a mass of gold and red flame that is transient, but oh, so beautiful (perhaps the more so for its fleeting nature). It's starting to get cooler. This afternoon was a crisp sixty-something degrees, and I wished I had my jacket.

Got about 550 words written on a Kain fic for 30enemies today. Yays ( Read more... )

So despite the suckyness of 12 hours in a car and various other disadvantages of East Bumblefuck, Virginia, I have to say, the scenery is really pretty. Although I'd rather have seen it in full summer so the trees would be a mass of vibrant, vivid green life instead of abandoned brown skeletons.
