Saturday morning SJ and I made breads (mine: aran breac, a traditional Irish dessert-ish bread; SJ: Irish soda bread, very yum), then trekked to the farmer's market and got cauliflower, bread, asparagus, spinach, and raw milk. I went on the best science field trip ever this last weekend (Thursday through Sunday). 21 people both from the Biology Department and outside Herbarium volunteers drove to Sun Lakes State Park, near Coulee City, WA. We camped there for three nights and spent our days roving around the area to collect specimens. They were collected in triplicate ( Read more... )

I'm spending this weekend collecting plants for the UW Department of Biology Herbarium collection! This means a weekend (well, four days) of camping. I'm all packed (eek, so much stuff) and ready to go, and am bringing the new camera (Canon Powershot G10). Hooray!
