Because I am a foodie and I love my garden, I will inflict you with additional food delights. SJ and I made this one last night from the leftover arugula (I tore the plants out of the garden in preparation for another planting, since they were no longer productive) and a few beet leaves carefully trimmed from our beets.

Peas are nearly done - dry, dessicated plants, with single short pods of fat seeds waiting to be plucked and eaten. I'll cut them down tomorrow and replant for the fall harvest. Beans are still going strong, despite each plant being only about the size of a skull (sorry, best scale I could think of on the spot); I'll replant between those, and ( Read more... )

When I was a kid, I had a patch of about 4'x4' in my parents' garden, where I grew carrots, radishes, sage, and occasionally some squash. I was bad about weeding, but we did end up with some mighty tasty carrots and radishes, and the sage worked beautiful wonders with its flowers and silver-grey foliage ( Read more... )
