The day started with breakfast in our undergarments (chemise, drawers or petticoat and corset)

What a productive weekend I've had.

My little Victorian a/tea is going ahead, probs early October so I have been working on Mum's skirt. 
The pleats are taped and pinned on and I have worked on the front apron/overskirt.  We tried it on for fit and length tonight.

Mum's corset is almost done, all I have left to do is sew down the top binding on the right side.  At the moment it is on my dummy so I can get on with her skirt.

 I am going to force the issue of re-wearing my bustle dress.  My birthday is in just over a month and I am planning a high tea.

So on the to do list:
Make my mum a corset and skirt.
Buy mum a victorian style blouse. 
Make Georgia an overskirt and jacket to go over her crinoline skirt.
Make the pleated lace to go inside my sleeves.

Well as usual I was sewing right up till the last minute so posting gradual updates didn't happen.  So here is the whole thing.

Skirt sew'd up like a dream, no issues at all.  Back opening done, waistband done.  I really like cartridge pleating, it keeps the waistband nice and flat.

What would us costumers be without the likes Janet Arnold, the insight into the actual construction of these garments is priceless.

Not sure if I have shared this on LJ as yet but I am a bridesmaid for my lovely friend Cat.

Her theme is Victorian, specifically early bustle (1870) and I have been itching to start on this project.   After all the Regency of late it is very refreshing to be researching my favourite period again (and legitimately use a sewing machine)
