Memeing for nefarious purposes.

Indeed, surprise nefarious purposes. Exam-related surprise nefarious purposes for the Greater Good.

[Also because I'd like to redirect my brain from some stuff.]

I am okay. Work has slowed down considerably since I had to write three essays in a week. Also I handed in my dissertation proposal which if it is successful means I get to write about wodwos (wild men) next year. Which is a good way to find out if academia is really for me.

May have only just remembered that I signed up for the hpcanonships fest. Ooops. I may have to actually start writing that Draco/Asteria story.

On that note: Draco, for old times sake and Nina from Being Human. Also Mitchell.

Have you caught up with it yet. Please say you have, I can direct you to meta? :-)

Really glad you're surviving the grind of essay-writing. When will you know if you diss idea is accepted? Wodwos look BRILLIANT. Why did you choose them?

I STILL haven't watched S3, but I'll tell you when I do. My life's kinda rollerskatey currently. I need to sleep (I keep misspelling things I oughtn't), but I'll definitely do the meme for you some time soom!

I should know pretty soon. And I'm not too worried cause even if the English department don't accept it the History department will. So many upsides to being a joint honours student ( ... )

VERY exciting, especially the bits you said about fear and boundaries (social boundaries? Moral/religious boundaries? The limits of bodies and mortality?) and inbetween-places.

Boundaries: I don't know yet, that's the cool thing. There is one extract where it talks about this woman who claimed that her baby was the result of her having sex with a wodwo. Quite literally breaking down any boundaries.

Its all so exciting.

Draco

1) Okay, confession time: I do like Draco, but only since DH. I don't think him not saying "Yes, it's Potter and Granger, kill them all, kill them now" was particularly heroic, but it showed he's - lost his bravado, lost whatever skewed ethical code he had, and I'm really interested in what's left when that's taken away.

2) He's way less important to the plot than I expected he'd be and I'm okay with that. (Though he got mentioned in the Grand Showdown Speech, a fact which makes me oddly gleeful.)

3) I don't identify with him, no, nor does he influence my emotions. Just my curiousity.

4) Well, I like bits of the fandom. Ie. you; Des; porn ( ... )

I do remember us both bonding over being a bit meh about Draco in the old UR days. He definitely got more interesting as the series progressed. Personally my tipping point was HBP cause crying in bathrooms about not being able to save your parents really does it for me I guess. Also the Tower scene. And Harry being ridiculously stalkery and Draco, for the first time in five years, being all 'There are more important things in my life right now than you Potter.' Also the nose stomping, it is horrible to read but still, never gets old. I 'like' him in HBP because it finally seems like he's growing up and then DH is an extension of that. Cause Draco can talk that talk but at the end of the day he's know the Trio since he was eleven and doesn't really want to hand them over to Voldemort. Which is a pretty big thing seeing as his family is involved and egging him on ( ... )

It is also part of my personal canon that Draco had a huge and ridiculously repressed crush on Hermione for quite a while. The slap didn't help matters there.

... Mine too.

Hermione's just so vivid and unconstricted and different and honest, of COURSE he had repressed lust for her. But, um, so's Ron, so, you know, in different personal canons, he had EVEN MORE REPRESSED lust for Ron.

[In the best headcanons, he has lust for both and eventually they reciprocate and sometimes he also becomes their dingy AU werewolf sex slave, khm.]

Anything that involves Draco as a sex slave has to be a good thing.

Although oddly with the HP kids I still have... issues with them as explicitly sexual beings. Sort of in the same way that even when my youngest sister is thirty with kids I'll still be going: 'But you can't have sex, you're eleven and have ridiculous hair.' Of course I'll still read the more explicit HP stuff its just I have to make sure that my own younger self is occupied with something else before I do.

Mmm, I went through the shock and am chill with it now. Although I'm probably the older sister who'll entertain her little brothers' wedding guests with nostalgia about their first sexual encounters.

... you know. ONCE THEY ARE NO LONGER ACTUALLY ELEVEN.

Yeah... might be a good idea to wait.

Maybe I just need to write some Hot PWP smut and sort of rip the band aid off. Cause the closest I've got so far is Blaise and Ginny grinding in a corridor....

Lily and James, riding crop.

Draco in a bathroom with anyone.

Ginny, giving or receiving cunnilingus.

"Sometimes Ron's on top."

Holler if you need more.

Ugh, I feel I can't really reply to the BH characters for fear of inadvertent spoilers. But yes, so with you on the Nina love, prickly and snarky yet warm and loving and seven shades of awesome. Also love her and George together. When they are good they are really, really good. And their relationship, despite the supernatural elements, just seems so real.

As for Mitchell... I think we shall have many discussions after you've finished that last series. :-D
