I should know pretty soon. And I'm not too worried cause even if the English department don't accept it the History department will. So many upsides to being a joint honours student.

Wodwos are brilliant. There are some really interesting sources for them and pretty pictures too. I've found them fascinating ever since they were mentioned in a lecture last term. (Along with Green Men, generally carvings of men with plants coming out of their mouths. Which despite the 'pagan' connotations are often found in churches.) I find the whole concept of these half human, half wild figures really exciting. Cause how they are used has to say something about what medieval people feared. And its all about human identity and boundaries and it makes me get my academic geek on.

Also the sources I found have already formed a bit of a coherent picture. Wodwos tend to be used to define a place away from humans, where the monsters dwell as it were. But then they are also used to describe humans. So there is a bleed through between the world. The wodwos can't be kept out.

I will contain my spoilery squee about BH until then. So difficult. :-)

And I hope that the rollerskates come under control soon.

VERY exciting, especially the bits you said about fear and boundaries (social boundaries? Moral/religious boundaries? The limits of bodies and mortality?) and inbetween-places.

Boundaries: I don't know yet, that's the cool thing. There is one extract where it talks about this woman who claimed that her baby was the result of her having sex with a wodwo. Quite literally breaking down any boundaries.

Its all so exciting.
