Well that was a good weekend. No, I didn't go for a super long or crazy bike ride, or run. No, I didn't race. I just... well... was productive, and very happy.

So it is that time at work when we can put in requests for new computer hardware. All I know is my current work machine is, I believe, from before when I started in 2003 and it's getting to where it just isn't adaquate for what I need it to do ( Read more... )

In about 15 hours (yesterday evening though this morning) I:

1. rescheduled all my students since I'll be gone for Thanksgiving next week
2. picked up "the stick" massager to start working on my tight calves
3. got ultrasound on my foot for the tightness
4. fixed a number of issues in our build process for our website at work
5. got in a bike ride (mostly with Mike)

Wooo! So it looks like the next chapter in the book "my computer is slowly dying and I keep trying to delay that" is about the power cord. In the last few days it has stopped keeping a good power connection. Does any one know a way to tell XSLT not to "optimize"? Some genius decided to make xslt always take empty tags and convert them to instead of . This breaks javascript stuff, since it needs to have the close tag separate. It also really causes issues with font formating stuff in div tags. My computer rocks. Well, by "rocks" I mean won't boot Windows. I wonder if it will boot Linux... oh but that is not really part of this story. Anyways it actually does kinda rock. ... looking at the speed to distance/time plot from my last run I think how it looks like a lambda distribution, which is the main curve I used in my CS research on file sizes. I then proceeded to think about why it would be similar, but I think that was just the sleepiness.

Another morning of waiting so far. Looks like the OS was trashed on my work computer. The hard drive was also failing. So I have a new hard drive, and they were able to make a ghost of the computer and should be able to get the data, but it means I have to remember where all the data is. Oh well. I have no Windows computer probably until tomorrow at the earliest. However, I don't want to just leave, cause I need the hours... but I really can't do anything productive now. *sigh*
