Thursday night I could have made grand advances on my work, but I decided it was important to take the night off and enjoy it with friends. On Friday and Saturday March 14-15, we settled into life in New Haven. We bought food, had a nice dinner, and cleaned the apartment. I wrote and submitted my annual pre-tenure report to my department for their review.

We had dinner with Peter and Nicole at Torches, a place they highly recommended but which would be closing soon due to the family's other restaurant being so wildly successful that they can't manage both. Saturday, Grace got up before the rest of us and secretly shopped for some more food for that evening's dinner. Due to an Amtrak promo this winter/spring, I earned a free roundtrip ticket on the Northeast Regional line, to be used during the summer. So I took the opportunity to break the loneliness of living alone these past two months to go up to Boston to visit Grace and Baldvin again. We are in Boston for the weekend visiting Grace and Baldvin. We got in yesterday afternoon, had lunch at Bangkok Blue in Copley Square, then walked over to Grace's college to drop off our luggage before heading to the Museum of Fine Art for nearly three hours of seeing the sights. We were supposed to go Thursday evening after work, but we arrived at the station to find our train was 2 hours delayed and so we'd get in past midnight.
