Interesting article, although the translation of the word 普通话 pǔ tōng huà is a little crude. 普通话 pǔ tōng huà (Mandarin) actually translates as "common language" or "common speech" rather than "common talk".

I have the excellent Wenlin Chinese dictionary installed on my computer at home, I use Powerword at work and I also have the Windows Language Tool Bar enabled so that I can type in Japanese and Chinese characters as needed, but couldn't find a good (and not hideously expensive) software that allowed me to wave my cursor over the Chinese characters ( Read more... )
