Anybody do anything root-cellar-like to preserve your harvest or CSA shares?

I don't want to build a room in the basement, I just wanna keep most of my fruits & veggies from rotting too fast.

I'm still trying to drag my house into a state of order (or at least to beat back the tides of entropy to the point where I feel more comfortable having people in to visit), but I've increased the time-table & effort.

I cleaned something!
