Yesterday I was held up on my way home by a police "chase" on I-40. Doesn't look like it ended up being interesting enough to make the news - I suspect the suspect may have just been drunk off his ass or something - but it held up traffic for a while because he more or less "pulled over" in the middle of the freeway, and I think he'd been acting ( Read more... )

The other day on the way home from work I passed a cute little sports car (I think it was a Crossfire or something). It was a nice shade of very dark grey / graphite. That particular body paint made it very subtle that, right in the center of the back bumper, was a large black Decepticon symbol. It was the most tasteful display of total ( Read more... )

So yesterday on the way home from work, some bits of my car decided to come loose and half-disintegrate themselves against the freeway pavement. Fun times. On inspection when I got home, I found plastic panels under the engine had come half-unbolted. Today on the way home I saw this license plate:

"IN A BOX"

It was, in fact, on a Porsche Boxster. But I'm really wondering whether the driver's name was "Dick".

(Oh, and since I only mentioned it on twitter, yesterday's license plate sighting was "RAVNCLAW".)

So, that was interesting. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that there was no way to get any use out of my car insurance for the window ($500 per-incident deductible for no-fault damage), so I got it replaced out of my own pocket ( Read more... )

...having your rear passenger window shattered by road maintenance. Time to spend a fun morning duct-taping my car together, calling insurance, finding a place that does auto glass... whee. :P

Edit: is fixed now. And I'm glad I called around, because the quotes varied by a full factor of two. Pity it's all under our random damage deductible
