Was watching an American Theatre Wing podcast from 1989, and Garson Kanin was saying that he thinks the ideal situation is for a playwright to direct his/her own work- IF the playwright knows how to direct. And directing is a skill that can be learned.

I think Informed Ability or Informed Attributes was what I was looking for.

So apparently one of the semi-regulars at Marie's tried to strangle a woman who wouldn't stop singing at the piano the other night. He did it reportedly in a joking manner, but when she still wouldn't stop singing, he ended up bruising her and leaving a mark from his ring on her neck.
