At 12:36 this morning, my mother passed from this world to the next. This was/is a blessing as it means she is no longer in pain. for those who don't know, my mom has been struggling with ocular melanoma for... 2 years or so now. She has gone downhill very quickly the last few weeks and the oncologist and neurologist believe the cancer has moved into her spinal fluid. She is in a great deal of pain and is very very confused most all the time now ( Read more... )

mom's out of surgery and things apparently went well. Dad called (finally) and said mom's in recovery, the doc said everything went well, and they'd be keeping mom overnight in the hospital.

Mom just called and the cancer is confined to the Eye! It is NOT a secondary site, and it hasn't spread beyond the bit in her eye. She'll be going to her eye surgeon next to see what to do about the eye and time frames on that one. But for now, the good news is, it's localized and CAN be dealt with ( Read more... )

Thank you all for your well wishes after my last post. We're in a bit of a holding pattern now until Feb 22nd. Mom has a lot of testing to do yet(blood work and chest xrays are done, still needing a PET scan and an MRI - both scheduled) and then she'll meet with the Doc on 2/22 for test results and scheduling surgery ( Read more... )
