(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon,
(b) a reason he/she sucks,
(c) a reason he/she is awesome,
(d) five things that never happened to that character, or

He is built like a runner too, not a muscle-bound barbarian warrior-type - streamlined, long, steely muscle, everything nicely in proportion, nothing over developed due to muscle-specific exercise.

To me the elves have always been like that. Ereolas says that Glorfindel and his brother are built like brick privy's; however he means like your description, not like how humans are. I think the brick privies in Mithlond must be very skinny buildings!

I like your Glorfindel - he seems well balanced and thoroughly nice. I like that he feels the need for 'me' time - it is something that I identify strongly with lol

Brick privy = solid, right? And Glorfindel is very solid *g*.

I also need regular time to myself, so it's part of Glorfindel that I can relate to as well. Goes with running, I've noticed that runners don't mind time alone.

*hugs you*

Erestor please. (I wish I had a sock puppet account so I could ask for Elrond also!)

Heh, Agie asked for Elrond. See below ( ... )

Oh, that is wonderful! I didn't expect anything nearly as lovely. Yes, I can believe all of those details. I think a great backstory always shows in the writing.

Over the yeas he developed a sparser style with some beautiful phrasing, but sees it as a very personal indulgence and keeps quiet about it.

I was suprised and pleased to think of him as writing. Wonderful.

The thought of anyone dismissing him as some pretty, delicate-looking elf sitting under a tree and scribbling verse makes him shudder

That is definitely the Erestor I know from your work.

Thank you so much! What great fun to read.

I didn't realise how much I was going to enjoy doing this, even though the last two are taking a lot more thought (with Gil I really didn't know where to stop, lol) I usually try and work out basic background before I start writing someone, in fact at Uli's suggestion I remember doing an interview with Erestor to get him clear in my mind during Doubt - I wonder if I still have that. Though things also just crop up as a character grows. I'm guessing it's a similar process for you?

Erestor has to be the only character I know of who has a hang up about being beautiful and goes to a lot of trouble to avoid fitting the obvious stereotypes *g*.

This one is terrific too. These are fabulous. I love the dressing up as a way of expressing himself, and I think it fits very well with his background (scarcity of those sorts of things) and his unique sense of self and self-expression (I'm a not-so-secret clothes lover myself). The memory box is wonderful and poignant--shows his emotional side and that he is loyal in memory to those he has cared for.

The lack of fondness for the sea makes perfect sense to me.

While I was writing this I realised something - this isn't specific to any story, Elrond is a constant. This fits him in everything I've written where he appears. Never realised that before - about Gil, yes, not Elrond.

Thank you for enjoying these, it's so nice to have an excuse to ramble on about them all :D

You really have to write your Gil-galad with a fiddle sometime. I love that.

I like your Thranduil :) I've always felt he's down to earth, more so than the other elven lords. Perhaps it's the relative isolation, and living so close to the darkness. But yeah, the hair. I'd be vain about that too ;)

Thank you for this. You have written wonderful things about all the characters. Do you think about them like this when you write or is this something that comes up when asked about them?

This is who they are to me, and it's how I write them. Except Fingon, he was new. I find it hard to write characters if I can't hear their voices or have an idea of their background.

Oh and your problem with when Christmas is over? My good Catholic friend Nienna tells me Christmas lasts till Epiphany - which this year is Jan 4th. So you have time :D

*hugs*
