I'm down to the last few 'tasks' in writing my mystery novel... reviewing the ending, grammar edits, polish... and the opening. I'm really worried about my opening. (Which has changed since you readers read ;)

Is anybody out there?

I have a weird writing issue and I'm looking for some thoughts.

What do you do when a character doesn't have the right name? And keeps not having the right name? Because I've tried renaming. A couple of times.

This is Scrivener. It’s a word processing and organization tool for writing long pieces, novels, scripts, etc. I’m on Day 20 of my 28 free days. It’s supposed to be amazing. But here's what I think. ;)

Importance... It's not that I don't think character description is important. I do, but I'm curious how important is it to you. I have a strange habit of imagining characters the way I see them in my head regardless of how they're described in the story. I have known for a long time that I write the same characters over and over in original stories.  I don’t think this is particular unusual or even a bad thing so long as the characters don’t appear over repetitive.  But I’d never really thought about what these characters meant until I realized that the reason I could successfully write fan fiction ( Read more... )

Does anyone have another word for convent that is not abbey or nunnery?

Sometimes I am totally brilliant.
