Sunny Sunday

Spring is starting to spring up here in the outer SE London suburbs. We got up late (for us) this morning and decided after a quick cup of coffee to deadhead and tidy up the garden. As it was around 12C/54F and sunny it was quite pleasant. I think I've lost two of the cordyline plants which is a shame, and there are a few other shrubs that look like the snow might have damaged them beyond repair. I've cut them back in the hope they might have survived.

The daffodils are coming out

A couple of garden photos under the cut -

Winter aconite (eranthis hyemalis) in the woodland area is looking cheerful

As are the hellibores

The woodland area under the horse chestnut tree at the bottom of the garden is looking very pretty with the snowdrops too.

I have a new fitness app on my phone called Gentler Streak. I downloaded it because it includes activities such as gardening, household chores and Nordic Walking as workouts which my iPhone default activity app doesn't do. As I have wooden floors throughout most of the house it means that when I clean them it'll log it as a workout (which it is!)  I rather like that it also measures the activity according to your general trend in fitness and it suggests rest days if you've met the weekly goals LOL!  Today it says my half an hour of gardening used the equivalent calories of a banana and a strawberry, and I've done enough to maintain my fitness. So I shall not feel guilty if I relax in front of the TV after lunch.

Today's question: 19 - World Whale Day: Have you ever been whale watching? Tell us about it.
I have not been whale watching. I'm rather conflicted by the idea of it as I think the whales should be left alone and not have hoards of tourists gawking at them from a boat.  If you stay on shore and watch them I think that's a better option.
