Snow, wind, snow, sun...... ack!

Apr 05, 2021 19:00

So this morning there were blustery winds to start with, it was dull and cold and then the frozen rain/snow started and swirled madly around on and off for a few hours. Then after lunch the wind dropped (although it was still cold) and then the glorious sunshine came out for the rest of the afternoon. I wish it would make up it's mind!!

I slept well last night - probably mostly because I slept so badly the night before, but also because I actually did the exercises I am supposed to do each day to stop my SI joint hurting and not surprisingly they helped with the pain (DOH!). This morning we went to the garden centre and the DIY shop and got a few things for future projects and I found some more flowering woodland plants for the garden so they've come home with me and been planted in the garden in the sunshine.

The robot lawnmower took all of yesterday, all night and almost all of today to finally update its software. We've put it back out in the garden to charge and I'm keeping everything crossed that at 8am tomorrow morning it will be back on schedule and go out and cut the lawn again. If it doesn't Mr Cee will have to all their tech support to see what we can do and he's not risked pairing it with the crappy App.

We have been toying with a name for it. So far we've been considering -

Sir Mowsalot
iMowBot
LawnBot
Robbie the MowBot
Mowbie Dick

Any suggestions for names gratefully received if you feel like playing *g*

We've taken the plunge and booked a week at the end of September to stay in the little Suffolk AirBnB we stayed in last year for a short break. Hopefully it will go ahead by then, and it's something to look forward to.  Later there will be Tai Chi which will be fun.

5. What was your first pet?
Georgie the guinea pig which I had when I was around 10. She was a noisy little thing - and she lived in the garden shed at the bottom of the garden. When I came home from school I came back to the house through an alleyway at the back of the house and through the garden gate - and she'd always call out for me to come and see her and pick her some grounsel weed to eat which was her favourite.

She was allowed in the house on a regular basis to run around downstairs and I remember she rather took a fancy to my Dad's record collection that sat on the floor on racks. She took great delight at chewing on the record sleeves when she could get at them. She also loved to sit on laps and have her fur combed and she'd nod off making little cherruping noises. She lived until she was around 5 and was a real character - we didn't have any other guinea pigs before or after her as after that we got a cat, so that's my one and only experience of having a guinea pig as a pet.

It's been confirmed that next week we can open up a little bit more. From Monday 12th April: Stage two - more businesses will open, but indoor settings should be visited alone, or with household groups. Outside, six people or two households can meet.
All shops allowed to open
Hairdressers, beauty salons and other close-contact services can open
Restaurants and pubs allowed to serve food and alcohol to customers sitting outdoors
Gyms and spas can reopen, as can zoos, theme parks, libraries and community centres
Members of the same household can take a holiday in England in self-contained accommodation
Weddings attended by up to 15 people can take place
Funerals be attended by up to 30 people, with 15 at wakes
Children will be able to attend any indoor children's activity
Care home visitors will increase to two per resident

I'm frustrated the museums aren't allowed to be open yet, but at least shops will be back open and we can go and meet for a coffee or a meal sitting outside (I'm hoping the weather cheers up a bit more so it won't be too uncomfortable!).  I've arranged to have some friend over for a meal on our deck towards the end of April, and I'm getting in touch with other friends to sort out getting together. It'll be nice to be a bit more social now.
