4 days to a very different Christmas (day 274 since 1st lockdown)

Europe and several other non-European countries are closing their doors to the UK with a very firm slam. I don't blame them!

I really wish that every country in the world at the beginning of this pandemic had closed their borders. Maybe then it would have got under control quicker. Instead, as soon as the numbers went down in the UK people jumped on a 'plane to go and have their summer holiday because they are covidiots. So many people ignored advice to isolate when they came back. Viruses like hosts like that - they can spread all over the place *sigh*  Don't even get me started on the people who STILL don't think the virus exists and won't take any precautions at all, and will happily join in with protests of hundreds of people which doesn't help either....

Of course now they are saying we might have some food shortages so I'm expecting the supermarkets to be packed with panic buyers (ARGH!!!!).

Anyway - enough of that - I shall try and stay positive - I'm going to enjoy this week the best I can. This morning I had an online lecture
"The Spirit of Christmas Past: Christmas celebrations in Tudor and late Medieval England". It was a very well attended lecture with over 100 people online! It was good fun with lots of information about the food, the festivities and in context regarding the weather at the time and those on the throne. I enjoyed it.

I also spent some time in the glass studio making a mirror for a friend and tidying it up a bit as it's got in a mess lately.  I had a nice surprise this afternoon as we won a Christmas cake in the raffle my friend who runs an afternoon tea business ran - isn't it fabulous (it is all gilttery!).  I won it because I ordered an afternoon tea for Mr Cee's birthday back at the end of November.

This afternoon we walked down to town to get our 'flu jabs which was really quick and easy. We decided to pop into another couple of shops while we were there - and one of the advantages of living near a small town centre is that it was empty. Everyone seems to go to the larger places which I'm quite happy with. So I picked up some last minute salad and nibbly things to keep Youngest Cee happy while he's with us, then we caught the empty bus home.

This evening Mr Cee is in charge of dinner which is nice - so he's busy preparing sweet potato and carrot mash to have with fish cakes later (yum!). In the meantime I have a question to answer:

21 At the solstice, as the light begins to return, what would you like to see increase in your life over the next few months?
I am so disappointed that we have cloudy skies at the moment as Jupiter and Saturn are in alignment to make a lovely bright star and I can't seen it *grumps*. Anyhoo - from now on I look forward to brighter days as it usually only takes about 3 weeks before it's noticeable and I am much happier when the days are longer. I would like more sunshine please and less Covid *g*
