4 days to a very different Christmas (day 274 since 1st lockdown)

Dec 21, 2020 17:07

Europe and several other non-European countries are closing their doors to the UK with a very firm slam. I don't blame them!

Small rant.... )

Both my girls are working at supermarkets at the moment and they both said that it was unbelievably busy today. B said it seemed like a combination of normal pre-Christmas purchasing, people buying because they'd planned on being away and panic buying (they are now completely out of pasta and tinned tomatoes).

Your Christmas cake looks so pretty - congrats on winning that, and your dinner sounds tasty as welll - enjoy!

The supermarket was OK apart from the fact there were two 16 year olds on the self checkout so they had problems if people needed age authentication for alcohol lol! They were quite stressed. Fortunately there were no empty shelves (yet!).

The cake is all glittery. I shall make Eccles cakes with the leftovers as I can freeze those ;)

That cake looks lovely!

It would have been so much better if borders had been closed at the beginning. Everything that is done is being done too late.

I’m so pleased with the cake although it’s a bit big for so few of us.

Closing the border immediately would have made so much difference!

All the people flying off because they 'needed' a holiday have made this whole thing so much worse.

We couldn't see the alignment either :(

I think most of the UK was covered in cloud. I wish I'd had a look the night before like some people did, but I wasn't that organised!

No-one 'needs' a holiday - you can take time off at home FFS!

Hee, lucky you with the cake win.

It was a shame it was so cloudy last evening. I am hoping for clearer afternoons in the next few days.

I never win anything, so I was very pleased, especially as I'd completely forgotten she'd mentioned the raffle when I ordered the afternoon birthday tea.

Some people got very organised and looked at the near alignment the night before, but I completely forgot until yesterday and it was dense cloud by then :(
