I made Amish friendship bread last night. I got the starter bag from one of the girls at work, who made a batch when one of our bosses left. It's very, very tasty--for those who don't know, it's a yeast-based cake/bread with lots of flavor. My friend Andrew Tobia was recently published in the Summer 2009 edition of Boston Literary Magazine. "Room to Room" is his first publication in a "real journal." He was, however, the Poetry Editor for Venture this past year. =)

One of my friends from high school passed away yesterday. We hadn't spoken in a few years and I feel like I should be more upset than I am, but I think it hasn't quite sunk in yet. He was always able to put a smile on my face, and he was one of the funniest guys I've ever met.

Rest in peace, Ben Barbagallo.
