For various ridiculous reasons (that I can't remember now, since sleep dep causes short term memory loss), I haven't been sleeping much this past week. (A trend that has, blessedly, ended, today, finally a sweet 8 hrs). Here's what I do remember, though:

Yesterday was St. Lucia's day. We put up our Xmas New Year's tree! I spent much of the day looking for a tree stand in various closets, without any luck. When sunday evening rolled around, it was the usual island situation -- no car ferries running, the car was on the island, and there was nowhere to buy a tree stand in walking distance. Most of this past week I spent getting over a cold. Went to the office Monday despite the first serious signs, but the rest of the week was at home, hanging about bleary on the couch.

* Work seems to be taking the news of my leaving pretty well. People just say they'll miss me, and they're sorry to see it happen. No unpleasantness so far, for which I'm immensely grateful (I've still got the rest of the month to go).

Our housemates, mishamish and babymonkey, have moved out earlier this week. They're heading back to Cleveland for grad school (Misha is going to CWRU), and to help out with family.

The house is immediately emptier, stranger. I miss them already.

Came back from Readercon. Had a great time, my favorite Readercon yet.

We went out yesterday for a birthday dinner, hibachi and sushi, with housemates and some local Portland area friends.
