We went out yesterday for a birthday dinner, hibachi and sushi, with housemates and some local Portland area friends. Aside from the fact that I love hibachi, and haven't had it in a long time, I'm really happy about this dinner -- most of the people there are the most tenuous kinds of friends, brief acquaintances, and birthday dinners are exactly the kind of social fabrics that bring people together, hopefully draw them closer. I'm glad they came, and was happy to see them, and I think everybody had a good time.
Also, Cat made me the most amazing birthday cheesecake ever. I mean.. holy shit, it was homemade mint-mocha cheesecake of doom. I get shivery just thinking about it, and a slice is waiting for me in the fridge downstairs.

William Gibson is one of my favorite writers ever, and I love the fact that he's on Twitter (and used to blog, a while ago). This is how I found out that -- he finished the manuscript of his latest novel, Zero History, a sequel to the Pattern Recognition/Spook Country series, yesterday, on my birthday. Sweet! I can't wait!

yuki_onna and I are heading down to
ConBust today. I'm looking forward to it; the last college convention we've been in, VeriCon, was stunningly good, very high quality and intimate, so I'm hoping this will be similar.
