E-PHIT: Dietician Visit 2

Mar 15, 2013 12:03

It's FRIDAY!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!

It's Spring Break here at the Law School so it's been nice and quiet around here and I think, without even knowing it, I really needed this semi-downtime to recharge. Today I am feeling more like myself than I have in a long time and I'm liking it. LOL

So, this morning was my second visit to the dietician and this week I met with the registered dietician and not the student who isn't really allowed to give me any advice, etc. Her name is Ali and she's amazing. Her personality is just great and she's VERY easy to talk to (coming from someone who is shy and a bit awkward, this is saying something).

She came prepared with some information on PCOS, weight loss tips, and heart healthy eating. It was very informative. She spent a good deal of time talking to me about the information she'd given me, listened when I talked, and was very good about answering any questions I had. Having dieted and such before, I know the common rules and practices of what I should eat and what I shouldn't and blah blah blah, but it was nice to actually talk to someone who could say: you know, instead of eating this for breakfast, maybe try eating this and it will keep you fuller and give you more energy. If you eat this snack instead of that one, your blood sugar won't react quite so erratically. Have you tried this? How set are you on eating the things you do now?

It was good to get feedback and to just get some helpful suggestions. I came out of there feeling much better about life. Now, technically I'm not supposed to "hardcore diet" until after the study is over but she is going to meet with me again when I'm done and give me some more pointers, some websites and tools and such to use.

She was just a really great person to talk with and it kicked me in gear with thinking about a lot of other things that I've been putting off thinking about for one reason for another. So...here's to taking better care of ourselves. We all need to do that and sometimes we just need a gentle reminder.

I've got my food/activity log again for this week AND I get weighed every time I go in there and I lost a pound since last week so WOOT!!

Again, thanks for listening to my E-PHIT adventures!! Have a great weekend everyone!! *huggles
