It's been a month since this entry, and I'm pleased to report that Operation: Detox has been a resounding success. Replacing going out for drinks pretty much every night with going to the gym/running, spending time with my roommate or reading in the park by my apartment has been awesome. I wore heels to work today. This is a major event! I subject myself to walking on my tiptoes about two times a year. Why? Yes, they make my legs look amazing, but they also make me look like an idiot; I just can't get the hang of them -- my gait becomes choppy, and I can't figure out how to fix that. I've been living in Bethesda, MD for most of my life, and I'd say I have a pretty good grasp of what goes on in the neighborhood. Our informal subtitle is "city of 1,000 restaurants," and for the most part it's accurate -- we have a LOT of places to eat within a one-mile radius. Thanks for asking, LJ! I was just on a freaking flying trapeze. I climbed a really high ladder, leaned over the edge of a platform, and jumped. I swung by my knees, and I almost connected with the man waiting to catch me. It was incredible. I've already signed up for another class. I'm determined to nail the catch next time!
