I wore heels to work today. This is a major event! I subject myself to walking on my tiptoes about two times a year. Why? Yes, they make my legs look amazing, but they also make me look like an idiot; I just can't get the hang of them -- my gait becomes choppy, and I can't figure out how to fix that. I'm usually a fast walker, and forcing myself to go slow makes me extemely impatient and self-conscious. Plus, those suckers hurt! I can't fathom why anyone wears them willingly. Yet, I'm surrounded by women at work who make it a habit.
What makes today special? Well, (1. I did some much-needed shoe shopping this weekend, and (2. I bought them because I'm attending a black tie gala on the 20th. What better to wear with a cocktail dress? I figure I need about two weeks to break them in and not embarass myself. Day #1: ouch.
Anyway. For those of you at home in these torture devices -- does the pain get better over time? Is there a wrong way to walk? Did I miss something in high school? I feel like everyone else has taken lessons, especially my younger sister.
sigh,
events,
birds don't dress me in the morning
