I went to the hospital to pick up Patty and quizz Dr. B who I finally got on the phone today long enough for him to mention the infections and say she was ready to come home. When I got there Dr. B was gone but Dr. C was there. Dr. C has treated Patty the most. Dr. F will back tomorrow. (They seem to have a crazy staggered scheduling going on ( Read more... )

Patty comes home tonight. She was screaming because she had some anal obstruction plus infection on the outside and on her tail. I need to find out what dog food can stop this mess.

Tests are not back yet. The bill should be awesome. Sigh. More later.

So I gave Patty her antibiotics for the urinary tract infection. She improved, then didn't, then improved, then had a fit of diarrhea. She has these bouts about once a month of every other month, but this time added puking. It started out with Lance coughing like a baby with croup. It got so bad I made an emergency appointment at the vet at early-fifteen this morning. So Patty started with hiccups which progressed to excessive hiccups, gagging, snorking, nausea, licking everything, eating dust bunnies and general pommy misery. Appalled, I called my emergency vet who wondered if it was a trachea problem and advised taking her to Chicago Veterinary Emergency Services. Elsa and I got up at the crack of eastern time zone dawn (8AM) fulfilled a burning need for me to go to Office Depot to check out their laptops.
