I've not been keeping up with blogging but I figured I should talk about today.
elsaf 's brother and sis-in-law foster animals for the Michigan Humane Society. A few weeks ago they took in a 3 year old female pom whose owner had died. Of course Elsa just had to tell me about her. They said she was a sweet loving socialized pom. Lance is going to be 15 on New Year's. After his big health scare a few months ago, I was wondering if it would be a better idea to get another dog while he's still here. And this dog has practically dropped into my lap. The family who was set to adopt her decided on another dog. The Society allows out of state adoptions. I faxed an application. And already knowing the foster parents, I was in and could adopt her. When can you come they asked. Elsa offered to drive us back over Thanksgiving weekend if I flew in. It couldn't have been easier.
So, I flew in this morning. Elsa picked me up and we went to her brother's house to meet little Patty Cake. Awww, she's simply adorable. I think we were bonding nicely. So I'm adopting her. It will happen tomorrow morning. Lance is getting a little sister. He's going to get the surprise of his little life. Hopefully they will get on well.
While all the bonding was going on, we sat down to a filling Thanksgiving dinner and t hen passed out. We woke to go see Bolt (quite amusing movie, but then I'm a dog lover) then returned to eat some more. I'm stuffed. Right now, Elsa is getting my bed ready and I'm playing blog catch-up. Tomorrow I formally adopt Patty, raid Petsmart and hit the road. More postings to come.
