Jessica and I were planning on going to Madison this past weekend. The UWEC Synchro Team was performing at Beaver Dam, near Madison. We'd hoped to crash at julnar's place and go to a crêpe place, see a movie at the Sundance Cinema, and see Eric, a friend of mine from UMSL days.

Jessica and I enjoy skating outside on the park ice, but often get bored after a while from just skating around the place. Last day off work. Jessica and I went to Stillwater so I could record her and her skating coach Peter doing their choreographed routine. Yesterday Jessica and I went up to Duluth, MN so she could compete in the figure skating competition being held there. Duluth is about 2 1/2 hours away at the WI-MN border at the western tip of Lake Superior. Jessica and I went out for the new year to one of the city park ice rinks. They call them rinks, but they're just leveled sports fields filled with water and allowed to freeze. The photo is from the same field where we had softball practice last May.

Yesterday I went to Minneapolis to take Jessica to the airport to attend a conference in Paris. She still had morning classes to teach, so we got up and I took her to her building. Jessica made a video of me skating at the rink the day I got my hockey skates. My, such bad form! At least now that I've seen it I know I need to improve. We're going to an outdoor rink in Minneapolis tomorrow, so I can start then.
