I tried cooking beet greens for the first time last night and they didn't turn out so hot - kinda wilted and tasteless.  I followed the directions of an online recipe and boiled them, then tossed them with some olive oil, salt, and pepper.  It wasn't really Cooking FAIL, more like cooking meh. 

I had a bunch if apple left over from when Colin and I visited a local orchard in September.  They'd gotten too soft for eating so I decided to try making apple crisp out of them.  The recipe I found was amazingly simple and very delicious!

Apparently the curry powder that we're all familiar with isn't a spice at all, but merely a blend of other spices which was invented by the British because they were too lazy to prepare the spices individually. ;)  There isn't even a standard recipe apparently, although the main ingredients seem to be cumin, coriander, fenugreek, and turmeric.

Tried to make lemon chicken today. I won't share the gory details, but the end result was that the lemon sauce sucked donkey ass. I thought it tasted way too salty and Colin thought it tasted way too lemony, so together we decided it was a bust and dumped in the trash and ordered pizza from Panago. Oh well.

This evening I decided to finally do something with the bag of (cleaned and dried) pumpkin seeds that's been sitting on the counter since Halloween.  My one good-sized pumpkin generated a surprisingly small amount of seeds - only between 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup.  The recipe I used was really simple.

I bought a couple of prickly pear fruits at the store about a week ago and today I finally gathered the courage to cut them up.  First of all, they might be de-spined but they still have these sharp little hairs that stick in your skin and bug you for ages.  Son of a b*#%^!!  D:<
