Everybody tells me how hard fish is to cook properly so I approached this with a bit of trepidation. But since the boyfriend loathes any sort of seafood, pretty much the only way to get it is to make it myself. I had a couple of frozen basa fillets sitting in the deep-freeze, so for supper tonight I decided to give it a shot. It turned out remarkably well; neither over-cooked nor under-cooked and it was very tasty.
Here's the recipe I used, although I only used 1 fillet and halved the rest of the recipe:
Ingredients
- 4 white fish fillets (basa in my case)
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 onion salt (I used garlic salt)
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- cooking oil (canola in my case)
Directions:
- In a bag combine flour, salt, pepper, onion salt, and paprika. Mix.
- One at a time place fish fillets in bag and gently shake to coat.
- Heat oil in frying pan at around medium-high temperature.
- Cook fish until lightly browned, turning only once. It is done when the flesh is opaque and flakes easily.
