So, Light in the Piazza is not destined to be one of my favorite musicals. A few sweet moments, but for the most part, over-stressed and musically weak. The subject matter was intriguing, but not enough to carry a story, and the ending was sloppy in tying up the loose ends. Flying Dutchman was weird. I definitely enjoyed the music - I like Wagner, as a composer - but there were a LOT of story points that just didn't make sense. He's not a storyteller. Peter Pan... represents so much to me, to my life, to my family. Pack it into one performance... it's a sucker-punch to the gut and I sobbed through most of the second act. Cynics have no place here. I send the world of grown-up things and questioning out the window, because there's nothing like Peter Pan.
