Loved the new issue of Classic Pop largely because it had a great article on the clubscene of London in the 80s that had sidebits w/Steve Strange, Princess Julia + Leigh Bowery and another article on Soho + the various artists who'd come from that scene over the years. Got Diva magazine which had a couple of short reviews of Only Lovers Left Alive + Exposed:Burlesque (a new documentary on burlesque esp the alternative side of it). Got new issue of Diva - it had a nice little bit on Lez Ingham's art of Grace Jones/Madonna/Annie Lennox plus a review of Lovelace. It also had an interesting article on ppl who choose to live beyond the gender binary (i.e. don't identify as male or female or choose to swap between gender identities/identify as both). Plus Times had review of new Marianne Faithfull biography and Amy,27 which is about Amy Winehouse but also other famous stars who died at the age of 27 (and apparently statistically more than average die at that age). Big Blondie feature w/Debbie Harry on the cover plus some great features on Stiff Records, political pop in the 80s and Keith Haring (artist who worked w/Grace Jones and Madonna among others). Times had an interesting article today on the history of the Wizard of Oz books (I used to have a few of them as a child, I think a lot of people don't realise but L.Frank Baum actually wrote more than a dozen books set in the Oz ficverse & there had already been films before the classic Judy Garland one).
