We bought Pokemon Black and White yesterday and so far, I'm really impressed with it. It seems a lot of the klunky things that annoyed me in earlier games have been improved. For instance:

• You can trade pokemon anywhere, not just at pokemon centers.
• You can trade pokemon from your PC Boxes, not just your party.

My FireRed cartridge now has 380 pokemon. I am missing:

#139 - Omastar
#249 - Lugia
#251 - Celebi
#367 - Huntail
#381 - Latios
#386 - Deoxys

Celebi and Deoxys, basically, are lost causes. Celebi was available at a Nintendo Event in 2006, and Deoxys was available in ONE CITY. We do have Deoxys, but for Diamond and Pearl, and you ( Read more... )

It is interesting being married to a member of HR. Pokemon States was fun. Stephanie and I both had a 3-4 win-loss record (though one of my wins was against someone who didn't show for a later match). We learned a lot about the common decks for this season, and came away with all sorts of good ideas (and more and more cards ( Read more... )

I should mention, for lack of anything better to mention, that we taught Joe how to play Duel of Ages on Monday and he picked up on it right away. Of course, he's a sharp guy, but we've been dispairing of teaching it to anyone because it's an obscure, creative-in-an-obtuse-way game ( Read more... )

Last night, Stephanie found my FireRed cartridge! Now I'm up to 310 caught pokemon. We REALLY need a paper pokedex. Also, the "National" pokedex is ordered in a rediculously stupid way, and I'm sorely tempted to create an "international" pokedex with all the pokemon ordered in a reasonable way ( Read more... )

Since the time we beat Bioshock, Stephanie also beat Portal. See? We're making progress on our video game pile! Now we're obsessed with the ending theme. Until now, I didn't understand why everybody was making such a big deal about it, but it's so catchy and fun (or moist and delicious?).
