Urban living has really been wearing on me lately. I'm seeing a lot of the darkness of humanity and little of it's hope. I know the good is there but in the city...it's really hidden.

Auckland is the best place to live...
Although I'm sure there are countless kiwis (and by countless, I mean a couple hundred thousand or so) that would maybe refute me or wonder in awe in what I see in their modest country, I have to say, Auckland is the best place I've ever lived. Just when I needed it, gatorade was provided via korean imports (gatorade is not easily had in New Zealand. I would hazard to guess there is less than a 100 bottles of the stuff here.

The grass on the other side...
On my last day off I was feeling kind of claustrophobic. I Felt like I needed to get out of the city for at least a few hours. I took the ferry to Devonport (a 15 minute ride) and then walked up a really big hill where I could see everything all around for miles. A city without people
I was looking over some of the photos I'd taken last week and noticed I don't have any people in them. I guess that's an accomplishment in a city of a million people... maybe. -

Walking to work for the 7am shift, which is not bad since it is just a booth 4 shift, which basically amounts to just watching TV. There is a guy selling the morning paper, which I never buy because the newspaper here is of pretty poor quality. Living in the city can be tiresome. You are surrounded by people but often they are not nice. You stop looking people in the eye and withdraw. I try to take photos when I can but I can't help but notice the attention I draw when I bring out the DSLR.
