I don't see much lately. Look closer...

Living in the city can be tiresome. You are surrounded by people but often they are not nice. You stop looking people in the eye and withdraw. I try to take photos when I can but I can't help but notice the attention I draw when I bring out the DSLR. You could very easily get in fights for just pointing the camera at the wrong person, or in other cases, you might be presumed to be a pervert or terrorist. But of course you are always safe with taking photos of flowers. No one seems to mind.

In other news (since it has been so long since I posted here), Yes, turning down that job last year (wow!, it's been a year since then!?) was the right decision. I never did find "employment" since then but I have been working steadily as a contractor/freelancer and I've never lacked for income in the last year. I've just re-negotiated my current rate at the TV network I do most of my work at and now I get 25% more than I used to there. I'm still paying off the credit cards from China, a few hundred dollars each week, which apparently has given me good credit because now I'm getting lots of mail with people trying to get me to buy a home and stuff like that. It's a bit personal to say here but I guess I'm really grateful that this place doesn't recognize my credit history from the previous country I lived in. It's like I've been given a restart with that and I fully intend to not get into debt over my head this time. Buying a home? I'll ask these things 5 to 10 years from now hopefully.
Right now I'm happy to live in a closet sized bedroom in the city, where I don't need a car, and walk to work and all I need is a few minutes away, even if the sidewalk is full of cold, hardened passerby's. I suppose they must see me as one as well.
