this is actually more of a critique of the bust gores in the laughing moon silverado corset. i am making it, so i wanted to explore the issue of the correct placement of gores. this morning i looked at some extant corsets to see if i could figure anything out. i'm left with some theories but not anything conclusive.

( i may just be super pretentious and full of shit )

so far my costume list looks something like this:

- natural form corset (late 1870s to early 1880s)
-georgian corset
-regency petticoat bodice
-edwardian corset? (i'm going to have a new pattern soon so i may not be able to resist)
-1858 day dress (actually about 2/3 done)
-gothic fitted dress (for the ice cream social)

i have maybe...13 costumes planned for next year, not including the ones i am making for my brother and (if i get the position) running the hospitality suite for costume college. can i do it? no, probably not, but per my mother's suggestion i am going to organize all my planned costumes on here TODAY or maybe just SOMETIME SOON so that i am better ( Read more... )

somehow using spider lace as the outer layer for a flapper dress seems a little much to me. but it's so very cute and tempting! :) i'm not really sure i like the gold color with the lace though, which is a slight problem cause i'm pretty sure it's the only color i've got that even approaches what i'm looking for, and i have a very clear picture of ( Read more... )
