my mom is in a semi-panic to have me organize/inventorize the sewing stuff before i go back to school. my main jobs are taking inventory on the patterns and organizing the lace, buttons, beads, etc. yesterday i worked on the animal beads (there was a huge mass sitting out on the cutting table waiting to be sorted) and the lace. i'm organizing it by size rather than type, because when it's sorted by type i can never find what i want. so now it's in boxes of small collars, large collars, small appliques, large appliques, antique lace, and 0-1.5, 1.5-3, 3-5, 5-10, 10+ yards. i went through two or three boxes. some of the stuff is really amazing (and old omg). i would like to iron a lot of it before i put it away, and i think i might take pictures of some of the more elaborate and/or pretty stuff. there were also some pieces i looked at and went, 'there's no way in hell i'm putting this back into a box of stuff to be used for clothes!' it's been an interesting and enjoyable process so far, but measuring and re-rolling 6 yards of lace trim gets old. :P
